Worldbuilding: how to name a city after Ares?

Hi, I’m writing a novel where a major city is named for Ares, similar to how Athens was named for Athena.

However, I can’t find much information on the etymology behind ancient Greek city names, and I’m not a student of the Greek language myself.

So I thought I’d ask you: How might such a city name be constructed? Maybe a compound word meaning “domain of Ares” or “throne of Ares” or “hill of Ares” or some such? Anything that isn’t simply “Ares” or “Ares-opolis” will do (in the novel, there’s a touch of mystery connected to the name).

Thank you!

There is, of course, the ready made Areopagus which refers to the outcrop of rock in front of the Acropolis in Athens the supposed site of Ares’s trial for the murder of Poseidon’s son Halirrhothius. This might lead to some confusion on the part of your readers if they are familiar with the Athenian place but I wouldn’t worry about that too much.
