Salvete.
Syra: “Quid dicit medicus?”
I’m looking at this and wondering why it’s not ‘quis’?
I’m fairly comfortable with what’s meant, in this passage, rather it’s the nitty gritty of the syntax that I’m focussing on.
Perhaps I should take a break and look at this afresh. Your patience is appreciated. Thanks.
“Quid” and “quis” are not the same gender. What gender is “quid”?
If you don’t understand why “quis” doesn’t make sense here, you may not actually understand the meaning.
What would quis dicit medicus mean? What case is quis?
Quid is an interrogative as you can see if you look at the next line in the text. What case and gender is it?
Hope this helps.
