Vocabulary in Roma Aeterna

Salvete!

My first post…

In Familia Romana the vocabulary needed in any chapter assumes the vocabulary in previous chapters and adds more. But what about Roma Aeterna? I can’t seem to find any information on this. I would like to pick and choose which chapters to read.

For example, I starting reading “The First Man in Rome” which includes the war with Jurgutha. Well, Roma Aeterna LII is Sallust’s story of the war. I’ve read the first 5 chapters in RA, but not the intervening chapters. Do I need the new vocabulary in those chapters to tackle RA LII, or does each chapter stand its own in terms of vocabulary?

Thanks for any help.

The chapters are intended to be read one after another, just like in Familia Romana. This means new words are explained where they first occur and not in subsequent chapters when they occur again.

However, the vocabulary of RA is more varied and repeats less often than that of FR, since RA consists of authentic (albeit adapted) texts that were not specifically written for the book.

Thank you, Laurentius…just what I needed!
