In Cap XLIII of Orberg’s LLPSI Tullus addresses the Albani and Romani as follows:
Rex cetera ut orsus erat peragit: “Quod bonum, faustum felixque sit populo Romano ac mihi vobisque, Albani: populum omnem Albanum Romam traducere in animo mihi est, unam urbem, unam rem publicam facere. Ut ex uno quondam in duos populos divisa Albana res est, sic nunc in unum redeat!”
He starts off by saying that what’s good for Rome is good for the Alba…that the Albani should up sticks and move to Rome to become one state…then the next bit slightly perplexes me:
Ut ex uno quondam in duos populos divisa Albana res est, sic nunc in unum redeat!"
As from [what were once] one people the Albani are divided into two peoples in this way they will return to one!
I have probably missed something in the text of the chapter but I’m not sure what he’s on about…?
