I am supposed to write the short phrase, “Toward the foolish thieves.”
I wrote, “Εἰς τοὺς ἄφρονας κλῶψας.”
The answer book used “πρός” for the preposition. Both include the meaning of “toward,” so I was wondering if there tends to be times that “πρός” is used and other times that εἰς is used?
πρός means towards, in the direction of, whether of not you reach where you’re headed.
εἰς means into; you start outside and go in.
Doesn’t Mastronarde have a neat diagram illustrating the use of spatial prepositions?
