Is anyone familiar with a modern-language translation of the Scholia in Pindar (Olympian Odes) and/or Scholia in Plato (Symposium)?
I can read English, German, French, Spanish, and Dutch, so any of those languages will do.
If you happen to know of a helpful secondary source (article, book (chapter)) about this topic, I would appreciate the tip as well.
Eleanor Dickey’s Ancient Greek Scholarship will help you with this sort of thing. I highly recommend it to anyone grappling with scholia. (Disclosure: I helped her with it. But not much.)
Ah, nice.
Amazon has the most useful pages (for me) in the free preview.
Now knowing about the alternate numbering I can update my source text from Boeckhius (1819) to Drachmann (1903-1927) (it’s the small things that make me happy).
