Basically I’m having trouble with the phrase: ou)k e1lege w#ster e0gi/gnwske.
I have rendered this sentence as follows: These fortunate citizens were not willing to honor/trust that politician because he was not saying/did not used to say what he had known //to be true//: therefore he was not deserving of honor.
Does anyone have a better translation? I hope so.
