Translation of "it was being carried"

M unit 16, exercise II, 1. p.136
Write in Greek 1. “It was being carried”
The Key gives “εφερετο or ηγετο” (p.25)
For “φερω” the book gives “carry” as one possible translation, so “εφερετο” is a good translation.
But when it comes to “ηγετο”, is it not the 3rd sing. imperfect indicative of “ηγεομαι”? I find no translation of “ηγεομαι” anywhere in the book meaning “carry”, neither in the Greek-English lexicon (see p. 458) nor in unit 16 itself where the verb is first introduced (p. 135). I see “lead, guide; command, rule; consider, think”, none of which can I construe as “carry”, no matter what contortions I subject my brains to.
Where am I going wrong?

No, it is the imperfect etc. of ἄγω

I feel like glossing “ἄγω” as “carry” – as Mastronarde does, following the LSJ ἄγω A.I – leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks. I was not thinking right. “nγεομαι” is a contract verb, thus I believe the imperfect 3rd sing would be “ηγεῖτο” after contraction, not “ηγετο”.
