translation check

hello. It would be great if someone could look over my translations:

Ingenia valde generosa et magnanima.
Great genius, nobility and magnanimity.

and

malum malo pellunt.
They strike evil with evil.

thanks!

Ingenia valde generosa et magnanima

generosa and magnanima are both adjectives, so

Genius vastly noble and magnanimous.

the second one seems to me to be correct

Salve Exercite
ingenia is plural, so “brave and noble qualities”
‘ingenia’ numeri plurali est.

“They strike evil with evil” or “they fight evil with evil” (more natural sounding anglicè, maybe)

Where are those words from?

thank you both for your helpful replies. Those words are from Francisci Baronis: de dignitate et augmentis scientiarum.
