Does anyone know the name of a good traditional english grammar book, ie. one that takes a Latin-style approach to English Grammar? Are there any available online?
Not online; I have an interesting book I haven’t read all through yet. English Grammar Past and Present by J.C. Nesfield- I think this is the right one. I’m away from home right now so I can’t be sure.
It is from 1909 and compares anglosaxon with “modern” english which is actually a bit antiquated for 1909 (perhaps it was written before this date and this is only the copyright. I’ll check it latere when I get home.
