This is the comic adaptation of the 1960 movie “The Sword and the Dragon”, which was an altered version of the 1956 movie “Ilya Muromets”. I’ll try to refer to the Russian version as much as I can.
The Sword and the Dragon
Ēlīās Mūromēnsis
This is a tale of long ago, about a distant land beyond the seas, a land of rolling hills, golden lakes and fertile soil..
Fābula hæc prīsca dē locō longinquō et trānsmarīnō est, ubi mollēs erant clīvī, cærulī lacūs, ferācēsque agrī…
But hovering over this land like an evil cloud is the face of the ruthless Kalin!
Vērumtamen super locum istum, ut dīra nūbēs, sīc volitat faciēs ferī Cālinī!
And Kalin’s tribe, the savage Tugars, ravage the land with fire and sword, pillaging and burning..
Nātiō autem Cālinī, nempe sævī Tūgarī, locum ferrō ignīque vastantur…
Burn! Destroy in the name of Kalin!
Ūrite! Perdite in nōmine Cālinī!
The people resist, struggle against their oppressors! But when resistance halts his evil legions, Kalin calls forth his ultimate weapon…
Release Zuma! Let the fire dragon burn down the city and destroy those who defy me!
Resolvite Gorynychum! Exūrat anguis igneus urbem et perdat eōs quī mē lacessunt!
