So far, all I have learned about ancient Greek is from Mastronarde’s “Introduction to Attic Greek”. This past Christmas I received the Cambridge Greek Lexicon as a gift, and the first entry I looked at was πειθω (p.1098), partly to get familiar with the format of the book.
I see entry 7 begins with “STATV.PF2 and PLPF2”. What does “STATV” mean?

stative, presumably. E.g. πέποιθα (believe, trust) is stative, as distinct from πείθω (persuade), which is dynamic. It’s a way of categorizing types of verbs.
My copy only has 811 pages.
You will find stative verbs explained on pages 408-409, under lexical aspect 33.8-9.

Note to Seneca2008: FYI, the pages you mention (408-409) do educate me about lexical aspect but are in the Cambridge Grammar of Classical Greek (CGCG), which I also have. Thanks for pointing them out to me. My original post was referring to the Cambridge Greek Lexicon, a two-volume tome of 1529 pages.

Yes, I did read the “Structure and Content of the Entries”, very informative. But I am confused as to what language this lexicon is about! In the article just mentioned, the first words are “αλλασσω, Αττ. αλλαττω” - no mention of the dialect of “αλλασσω”, which I think I recognize as Ionic; is that the default dialect of the lexicon?
