Does anybody have ideas about translating Iliad 18.482: ποιει δαιδαλα πολλὰ ιδυιησι πραπιδεσσιν?
He made many elaborate designs to look at?
(I’m having trouble with the accents causing spacing problems. I downloaded it from the hyperlink provided. Any ideas?)
I find it’s not a problem if you use Netscape.
So if other people are using Netscape the accents will appear correctly to them?
They should, I think. I can’t really talk for everyone else though.
About ιδυιησι:
I checked it in Cunliffe’s ‘Lexicon of the Homeric dialect’ (arrived yesterday, love it already), and he states it is an adiective use of the perfectum participle of ειδω and it should mean skillfull.
