semi off topic, latin audio recording under linux...

This is semi-off topic, but I remember reading someone here had done some recordings of Latin texts under Linux.

I was hoping someone could point me to the right software/insructions for doing the same.

That would be me:

I used ecasound to record the readings, ReZound to trim the files and add effects, and oggenc to compress the original WAVs to OGG files.

See http://linux-sound.org for a large list of sound and music software available for Linux. And feel free to contact me here or directly if you have further questions on this topic.

My version of windows is apparently to stupid to know what to do with ogg files. Is there a link to the mp3s ?

PS: great project !

Ouch. I thought any recent Windows Media Player would handle OGG files. What version of Windows are you using ?

Anyway, check out http://www.vorbis.com and try the Windows setup.

Sorry, no MP3s. :frowning:

Thank you, I enjoyed recording the poems. I have a long-range plan to replace those recordings with updated renditions that take into account certain discussions taking place in the Textkit Latin forum. Alas, I’m pressed for time these days, so the site will remain as-is for a while.

Let me know how you fare with the Ogg/Vorbis setup.
