Sed

Hi all.

I’ve been told that sed can only be used in a negative sense, as in:

Domus non parva, sed magna est.
The house is not small, but big.

I’ve been told that it cannot be used in a postive sense as in:

Domus parva, sed pulchra est.
The house is small, but nice.

Can anyone shed any light on this?
Any info would be appreciated.

Schmitz lists sed as a adversative conjunction only, along with many others like “autem, vero, verum, at, ceterum, atque” et cetera…
That is the only use I see?
