Hi Barry, I think this is a very helpful resource, and have referred to this before, e.g.:

I did ask the author whether he could change the musical backing to something more like Stefan Hagel’s kithara accompaniment, rather than the (jungle?) theme… he also mentioned that he may re-do the recordings to get the caesura pauses more consistent etc., but I think it’s already a great resource as-is.

From a subjective perspective (i.e. the “sound” of Homer for us moderns), I prefer the original recordings by Stefan Hagel of e.g. a modified Odyssey excerpt here:
