Does Daitz rhyme with bates or bites?
For whatever it is worth, it is pronounced as “dates” on the copyright lead-in audio of his Bolchazy-Carducci recordings.

I helped catalogue and organize his library after his passing. Granted that was over a decade ago, but I’ve pronounced it like bates ever since. I think I would remember if I had been corrected, but memory is a fickle thing.
Daitz himself pronounced it as English “dates." At least, he didn’t object to that pronunciation.
