Sallust and the New Testament

Getting back to Sallust after a brief hiatus. Why am I mentioning Sallust in the NT subforum and not under Learning Latin? I was struck with the following passage in his Catilina:

And how similar it is to Paul in Rom 1:18ff:

Not arguing for any kind of dependency, of course, but perhaps that similar themes pull forth similar thoughts. Paul is arguing for the general depravity of the human race, Sallust is arguing that upper class Rome has in general gone morally deficient as he sets the background for his discussion of Catiline.

You didn’t by any chance study Cornelius Van Til?

I think the Latin for this is… non sequitur.
