i don’t think there can be much authority for rendering laude as accomplishment. the quotation is from Horace’s carmina (3.30) where ‘usque ego postera / crescam laude recens’ is ‘ever novel I will grow (in fame) from future praise’. the notion on the motto here then is simply one’s reputation being augmented by praise lavished upon it by future generations.
