Polis course

Hi everyone!

I’ve just ordered the Polis book.

Does anyone want to start an informal group where we go through the course exercises and readings?

Hope to hear from a possible co-learner

I’d be willing to go through it with you. We could do a Zoom session at a scheduled time, and maybe it would pick up a few people over time.

I’d be willing to join this too.

That seems to me as a very promising set-up!

Still, my books needs to arrive…

Shall we aim at beginning around 1 October, or what suits you?

Sure, that week works for me.

I’m in.

Actually, I already have a Zoom room allocated to conversations in ancient Greek (Tue & Thurs 7pm Eastern time;Sat. 1pm Eastern time).

I think it would be great to add in a Polis class time!!

What do you think?

I’m in Europe (Denmark), so Tuesday and Thursday 7pm Eastern Time would be awful for me  Saturday 1pm ET, there is scheduled the Greek chat announced on “Latin and Greek Chats”, which I do not think we should compete with.

For me, Friday 2 October works best, any time between 7am-5pm ET, or 11-12pm ET.

How does that work for you all?

LoL, so the Tue/Thur/Sat. Times in my Zoom room ARE the “Greek and Latin chats” you mention. I wasn’t suggesting a “competition.”

We definitely need to avoid those slots, so it’s good that they were “not good” for you.

I’m on Pacific time, and I’m not much good in the morning, so the Friday time is a bit early for me to commit to. Could we do it like at 2pm Eastern?

Hi, yes 2 pm Eastern Time would be so fine, (that is, as far as I know 8 pm in the evening here)

So, are we meeting 2pm Eastern Time, Friday 2 October, on a Zoom link? How exciting…

I’ll be there … but I hope Joel is coming too!!! After all, he is the διδάσκολος!!!

It depends on whether I am back from the “Pumpkin Patch” (ὁ ἀγρὸς πεπόνων) with my girls (and freshly picked Halloween pumpkins) by then or not. Don’t wait up for me!

Hmmm … would 3pm work better? We kind of need the teacher to pick the time!!

My wife tells me that she expects us to be getting back just at 3pm ET. So 5pm ET will work better.

Also, I’m just joining as a fellow student of Greek, and am no teacher (god help us), though the material at this level is simple enough for me.

Ok with me. How about you Hortensius?

It’s a bit late for me, but let’s do it this time, and them perhaps find a more suitable time (if possible) for us all. When the reason for the postponement is a pumpkin-collection, its enough cause

OK, so see you tomorrow 5pm ET (11pm here in Denmark )
