Just curious. Peter Pan is a name of totally greek origin. Is there a ancient greek translation of Peter Pan? If it is, is it in public domain?
That’s an interesting thought…I don’t know if there is one, but there should be! You’ll have to write one.
Yes, and it’s in the classics category, too!
I have that book! Except…it’s in French. Now, I can read French, but by the time I finished, I’d be too old to start on the Greek version-whenever someone makes one, of course.
I don’t know of any Greek version of Peter Pan. I must admit I’ve never read the book, only seen the film(s). There’s a new film coming out soon. Hopefully in the summer holidays, then I can treat my much younger cousin to a visit to the cinema ( I’m sure she wants to see the film and needs someone to go and see it with her…).
The book is good. The book is really, really good. As far as the films go, I didn’t like Disney’s version much…I did like the movie/stage version with Mary Martin playing Peter Pan. And I absolutely love “Hook”, with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman. I actually saw it before reading the book or seeing any other movie…call it my introduction to Peter Pan! Although it’s more of a sequel-or a separate story that builds off the legend-than it is a Peter Pan movie. In other words, it takes place many years after Peter Pan, but in spite of this, it was truer to the book than any Peter Pan movie I’ve seen.
