Salvete antiquarum pulchrarumque linguarum cultores. Hello! O cultivators of old, beautiful languages. With an aching head and heart I have returned to bid you farewell for the time being. Unus vestrum iam valvulas apertas tenet. One of you even now holds the doors open. Alii silescunt. Others are silent. Egomet equidem memet iniquitiae accuso nam insanians caece sodalibus nostris abusus sum eos vanis postulationibus fatigando. Indeed even I accuse myself of iniquity for in a fit of blind insanity I have abused our members by importuning them with vain demands. Moreover I stated I would either become silent or depart unless I obtained what I wished. Consequently I must now act for the promised penalties must be paid. Dolore paenitiaque obrutus exul tristis fiam habitans ultimis in finibus terrarum orbis. Overwhelmed with grief and repentance I will become a sad exile dwelling in the earth’s most distant reaches. Non autem video quomodo abscessionem aeternam a vobis possim ferre. I do not see however how I can endure eternal separation from you. So I am resolving to return after a period of time not less than three months long. Redeam ubi discero me praebere in modo digno huius rei publicae humanarum literarum. I will return when I have learned to conduct myself in manner worthy of this republic of humane letters. Interea vobis omnibus opto fructosa studia. In the meantime I wish you all fruitful studies. Valete dum superis faventibus rurus conveniamus. Farwell until we meet again if the immortals are willing.
I will become a sad exile dwelling in the earth’s most distant reaches.
Well, I didn’t know you were coming to visit us in Adelaide, Australia!
Stay with us Kynetus, otherwise who could we argue with about Latin teaching methods? Dammit - I’ll even do some English to Latin composition over the Christmas break!
As enjoyable as your text and translation was, this all seems a bit melodramatic and unworthy of literae humaniores. I do not have much interest in why you are leaving; the reality is that if you love learning Classics it is neither here nor there whether you post on this or that board.
i suppose this is not the place to point out errors of Latinity. enjoy your time away, in study or otherwise.
Don’t worry, Kynete! Our legal experts here at Textkit can find a loop-hole to get you out of trouble! I’m not an expert myself, but I’ve been following your case closely and I don’t see how you have come to such tragic conclusions. Did you make any demands that required satisfaction or honorable exile? I don’t think so, all you did is ask for clarification. Didn’t you get prompt responses as to our flexible and lenient guidelines, which didn’t ask for your cessation of latinities but only for your just consideration of the communicative needs of our barbarians? Eh?
“Alii silescunt.” ~Kynete
Maybe you should conduct a poll: that’s what they’re for.

I think that three days will do the trick, as long as the penitence is taken seriously and adequate mortification measures are adopted.
I loved your translation of Quevedo! Following on your foot steps, I offer you this humble rendition of Shakespeare:
Wait, is Kynetus leaving b/c he writes too much latin? odd… That would be a reason to stay.. I just realized that I was butting in. Sorry if I am, but I’m going to send this thread anyway due to my childlike curiosity… Bardo De Saldo has a point about the poll.
Please, no polls! All’s well. I am going to depart (remain silent) for a period of time. It’s best. Not only do I need to develop a feel for proper list etiquette (Sp? severe add, you know) but personally need to disengage for a while. I did not arrive at this port intending to become nearly involved as I did. But interesting people were exchanging ideas on compelling topics and I got swept up in the flow of my own ideas and into the interraction process. Pretty soon I was so focussed on goings-on around here that I wasn’t paying attention to other matters: namely correspondence with other friends and other studies..
To those of you I may have irritated, I would say only that I never intended such - but that’s no excuse. To those of who enjoyed my rants, I shall return! Hopefully, a little smarter and wiser.
Once again, the idea of a poll is terrible! So see you around Ground Hog Day.
Cheers to all and kindly do not respond to this addendum to my departure letter lest you tempt me! javascript:emoticon(‘’)

Ah yes. At a really busy time earlier this year I myself took leave of this forum for a few months. However, I had some experience with forums and their capacity to drain time before coming here, which helped me control myself. I am sure that when you return you will know how to control yourself better.
