One of the suggested possibilities for the completion of the sentence “‘Kalendae’ nomen est mensis:” is ‘die primo’ Does the addition of an omitted ‘i’ to give ‘diei primo’ give the correct answer? If not can someone please enlighten me.

I’m not totally sure I understand the question, but I’m guessing your sentence looks like this: " ‘Kalendae’ nōmen est mēnsis _______" (fill in the blank). Diē prīmō is an ablative, so it wouldn’t go into this sentence. You would want to make it a genitive ('Kalends is the name of the first day of the month). So you would change it to diēī prīmī (you have to change prīmō to a genitive also in order to keep it connected to diēī).
