All of my attempted translations have a circular feel. What noun is ‘earum’ standing in for…. whose names? does it mean the pre-existing names of nobles etc. amongst the population… ?

To answer (slightly) my own question it would seem that ‘earum’ is feminine and so must refer to the Curia…

I think earum refers to the Sabine women–Romulus was especially pleased with them (your previous post) and so named the 30 curiae in their honor.
