Hello, I am a new Greek learner. Trying to learn Greek on my own with Athenaze. I’ve taken the approach that learning Greek will be a life long affair, with many stumbles along the way, but eventually I will suceede.
I guess my main interest is being able to read the New Testament and the Septuaginta in the original Greek. Once I finish with Athenaze what would you recommend I continue with?
Well, this is really up to you. But my experience, as I use Athenaze in autodidact mode, without in any formal course in a college or university, and without a professor, is that after volume 1, it is still difficult (but feasable) to read actual greek authors.
This is mainly because of verbs, also some pieces of grammar, and vocabulary. Volume 2 addresses many of these, but of course is much more difficult than volume 1. In any case, after volume 1, you will be the judge.
I think that volume one is only half the book (though it is in a separate cover)
so if you find volume one effective for you, certainly go on with the second half of the book (ie: volume two.) Best wishes.
