I’m new to the forums, so this is my chance to say hello to everyone. So, hello!

I’m wondering if anyone knows of a source for the Greek text of Maximus’ Ambigua ad Thomam? I was hoping for a pdf or website with electronic text which could be copied over into my note taking app where I collect notes and glosses on unfamiliar words, grammar, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I look forward to hearing all about the nature of the manuscript tradition, I can’t imagine it’s any more rambunctious than the tradition surrounding Orgien’s First Principals as John Behr narrates it: https://onscript.study/podcast/john-behr-origen-and-the-early-church-pt-1/ - but perhaps I’m wrong! :smiley: Either way thanks!

I agree, a very fascinating interview! Me thinks I might have to pick up Constas’ Dumbarton Oaks volumes on the Ambigua just to see what the state of the text looks like after his work, though it doesn’t look like, based on the few previews I could find, a critical apparatus is included which is unfortunate. I was particularly glad to hear Fr. Maximos Constas push back against Platonism as ‘Dualistic’. I ran into that idea, already in the popular imagination of most churchgoers, by way of T.F. Torrance after having read Eric Perl’s “Thinking Being” and didn’t find the idea terribly convincing. “What is Plato, if not Moses speaking Attic Greek?” Ha!
