Hello all.

Yes it depends on the tense of the main verb.
I suggest you read about the sequence of tenses here. https://dcc.dickinson.edu/grammar/latin/sequence-tenses
Note A&G § 485c: in result clauses, the perfect subjunctive is regularly used in secondary sequence for completed action in the past. This differs from other types of subordinate clauses, where pluperfect subjunctive is used in secondary sequence for completed action. See A&G § 484b.
Imperfect subjunctive is used in result clauses in secondary sequence for incompleted action in the past, and present subjunctive can be used in result clauses in secondary sequence for incompleted action in the present.
Whoosh!
Thanks both.
I’m a way off understanding all that yet.
Paul.
