LLPSI Cap 8. Ex 12 Word order really totally free or?

Greetings!

I am working my way through chapter 8 of Hans Ørbergs Lingua Latina. So far I have managed to solve his pensa et exercitia. But today I have come across this exercise:

cap8:ex12:7
Qu_ servorum Iulius dominus est? Servi qu_ dominus est Iulius sunt Medus, Davus; Ursus, Syrus, ceteri. Iulius est dominus e_ servorum.

I solve this by:
Quorum servorum Iulius dominus est? Servi quorum dominus est Iulius sunt Medus, Davus, Ursus, Syrus, ceteri. Iulius est dominus eorum servorum.

I believe this to be right… Maybe I am, but I then remember that one of the strange things about latin is that the word order does not matter …
But with all those names all in nominativus in the second sentence … how is that to work out?

I mean who can read the correct meaning of
Servi quorum dominus est Iulius Medus, Davus, Ursus, Syrus, ceteri sunt .

Am I just taking the free word order to the extreme or should Medus, Davus et cet. be Medi, Davi et ceteri?

Thank you for your time!
Cheers Nina
