Latin Astrological Terms

I’m trying to put together a list of Latin terms that were used in astrology. Some have been easy to find–the classic names for each House of the Zodiac are in Latin (e.g. the House of Self is “Vita”, the House of Relationships is “Uxor”)–but I can’t find the others (e.g. the term for “House” itself, which are the divisions of the Zodiac into areas of rulership: I’m not sure “Doma” is appropriate here).

Does anyone have any book/web site recommendations?

Thanks,

David

I wonder what the the source of your information is? Manilius’ astronomica provides an account of astrology possibly in the first century ad. The only thing I can see that fits what you are saying is his circle of the Athla (book 3). However at the end of book 2 there are 12 “templa”, the first is Stilbon (area Children life and character) I really dont have any expertise it just so happens that I have the loeb on my shelves.

Sorry it took me so long to reply: my source on the House names is Wikipedia. I’m pretty sure these are medieval names, since they all refer to aspects of the ruler’s life of practical importance (e.g. who he’ll marry, how he’ll die, etc.). I’ll look into “templa”.

Thanks,

David
