"The original Greek form is Aikaterine (Ekaterini), a word of obscure etymology, which became Katerina.
The name became then Catharina in Latin because the Latin-speaking people believed that the name derived from the Greek “katharos”, meaning “pure”.
What would be the best word for pure to match this in Latin? sanctus, castus?
inviolatus? integrus?
… purus?
Lol, you guys suck!!;D Okay, say I chose Sanctus, is that the correct ending?
Sancta would be the feminine… Sanctus would match Katharos in gender though.
