At my stage I can’t do “translation” into Greek. These exercises check whether I can use the proper forms and syntax, within the limits of what White’s First Greek Book has presented up to this point. Not creative and surely of no great interest to anybody but me.

Still, I hope for your corrections.

  2. He halted his men.
  3. Xenophon rose and spoke as follows.
  4. He was not able to rise.
  5. They made those who had been wounded (use the perfect participle with the article) rise.
  6. You must cross the river, that the enemy may not escape by stealth.
    1. ἔστησε τοὺς στρατιώτᾱς.
  7. Ξενοφῶν ἀνέστη καὶ εἶπε τάδε.
  8. οὐκ ἐδύνατο ἀναστῆναι.
  9. τοὺς τετρωμένους ἀνέστησαν.
  10. χρῆναι ὑμᾶς διαβῆναι τὸν ποταμόν, ἵνα μὴ ἀποδρῶσιν οἱ πολέμιοι.

  2. χρῆναι: χρὴ

ἵνα μὴ ἀποδρῶσιν οἱ πολέμιοι is perfectly fine. You could use the construction with λανθάνω if you want to emphasize the “by stealth” part.
