introductory, salvete, chairete, etc.

Hi! This is my first post. I first became interested in the ancient world as a teenager, from reading Durant’s “The Life of Greece.” I had 2 years of Latin in high school, in Michigan.
I taught myself Greek, starting with “Homeric Greek” by Clyde Pharr.
Don’t get me started on the Peloponnesian War!
I just started reading Aratos’ Phainomena.
Oh, the username? Well, I once read this piece by George Orwell, in which he says, that when he wrote his column in Tribune, he sometimes would keep repeating to himself "Vixi puellis nuper idoneus ( “I was once attractive to girls” from Horace) just because he liked the sound of the word idoneus. So, since I had to choose a new username in a hurry, the word idoneus was the first word that popped into my head.
I tried to change the thing from British English to American, but the thing wouldn’t change.
Some Monty Python for my British friends:
“Kids today aren’t like in my day; they didn’t have their heads stuffed with all this Cartesian dualism.”

Yours truly,
Mike

Welcome!

I actually already replied to a post of yours on the other sub forum before approving this introduction post…
