It was suggested that on joining textkit I introduce myself. The interest starts as a 16 or 17 year-old. I was troubled so often by a feeling that I could not appreciate or judge accurately what I was reading because of ignorance of starting points that I decided to begin the study of Ancient Greek as a college freshman; and Latin I took up during the following summer. Eventually I read a fair part of Ancient Greek literature, which especially fires my interest, and some Latin authors (Catullus may be the favorite). Of a scientific bent too, my work life has been in quite different fields; I am here as an amateur, and hope to learn a few things; perhaps I can share a crumb of knowledge or experience too. I appreciate sites such this one which help preserve the study of starting points of Western culture.
