I am Eli, a Scandinavian law student. Given that I study law, Latin has always been able to sneak into my textbooks (Culpa, dolus et cetera.). I have thus slowly become curious about the language and now wish to learn it. Specifically I hope to reach a level of proficiency that allows me to study the original Roman sources of the law, as there are no translations of many of the ancient works.
Other than some words loaned in English, I am totally new to Latin. I have bought the Lingva Latina Per se Illustrata and working my way through it. Hopefully I’ll get to a point where I know enough to usefully participate in the threads here.
