Introduction

Hello,

My pseudonym is Caldwell Williams, my actual name I like to keep private. I am a young adult who has a general interest in history, and languages, specifically ancient languages. I have explored Latin in the past, as well as a little bit of koine Greek, however, my current focus right now is on learning BH(Biblical Hebrew). I have a more personal desire to read texts in their original languages, which is why I am interested in learning different ancient languages from different time periods. This is currently carrying over to my studies of the Hebrew Bible, or what is most of the Old Testimate. However, I have been struggling with my self-learning of BH, and even though this is mainly a Latin/Greek forum, I’ve seen some people here are familiar with BH. I hope to ask many questions, and contribute much to this community!

Thanks - C.W!

Welcome to Textkit!

Welcome, Caldwell. Are you also a member of the B-Hebrew forum or any of the Facebook Hebrew learning groups?

If you will share what your difficulties and interests in BH are, perhaps I can help. I am a B-Hebrew member and also with some of the FB groups. I also have a blog that has some materials for learning ancient languages, including BH. You can send me a PM here if you like.

Hello. I had tried to join the B-Hebrew forum a while back, but when I tried to register by giving my email & introductory(as you can’t register normally by creating an account on the forum), I never received an email back. I had checked everywhere, even my spam folder but nothing. I was also not aware of any BH Facebook group, but since you’ve made me aware, I could try joining it.

It could be you attempted to register during a time last year when there was a problem with spam accounts. Regular direct registration to the site was deactivated to deal with it. Here is a link to an announcement by Jason Hare, one of the moderators at B-Hebrew, giving a workaround: http://bhebrew.biblicalhumanities.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22390

Hope this helps.

You can find my posts on B-Hebrew under the username talmid56.

Shalom, Caldwell!

I started Greek and Hebrew about twenty years ago. I’m now a fluent speaker of modern Hebrew (living in Israel) and a basic reader of Koinē Greek. I feel that my Greek just has never progressed, even though I can sit and read most of the narrative portions of the New Testament. I just did a year of Latin during the Corona lockdowns, in which I completed Wheelock’s Latin and the first level of Lingua Latina per se Illustrata (Ørberg), so I’ve covered basic Latin grammar.

As it is, you’re welcome to add B-Hebrew to your list of online hangouts. Let me know if you have any issues getting signed up. My name on B-Hebrew is Jason Hare (my real name). Sorry about your experience. The last year we had a LOT of spam, and things fell through the crack. We’re trying to get things fixed so that eager parties will not be overlooked.
