Introducing myself123

Greetings fellow-inquirers,
Im Stavros Papadakis(23 y.o.),Im Greek-though I think of myself as a citizen of the world.
Quite soon i’ll be graduating from an agricultural university where I write my thesis, in an engineering field, on drying optimization in Comsol.
Also in a few months i’ll be joining special forces.
Anyway, enough of that:)
I’m in love with Plato, the Presocratics, the Tragics, Nietsce,Voltaire and many more.
I fancy epigrams of Theognis-Simonides.
That being said,i dont perceive them as infallible .-

In fact love comes from “λαβώνω”
“σὺ καὶ δικαίων ἀδίκους φρένας παρασπᾷς ἐπὶ λώβᾳ”Sophocles
You even draw away the minds of the righteous, by making them unjust, turning them into distraction

On instagram(_stavraetos)(its a widely used platform…no comments ),i’ve written some poems in modern Greek and one in English thus far,so you can check them out if you’d like.

Can you translate this:?
“σχέτλι᾿ Ἔρως, Μανίαι τ᾿ ἐτιθηνήσαντο λαβοῦσαι”Theognis
’’harsh God of love, you who harm with Menos those that brought you up"maybe???

Welcome on board. I think you will like around here, a fair amount of literature we discuss around here is verse and you seem to quite an adept versemaker yourself. Who knows, maybe you will share some attempts at old Attic verse, after Sophocles or at the Ionic of Homer? I must say I would really like to see some translations of modern poetry into Ancient Greek. Anyways, it is always fun to have some one else to shareour crazy little niche interest with

Well, regarding old attic verse, i think about writing Prometheus Unbound…
Recognizing the challenge,i estimate it will require maybe 5-15 years ,depending on many factors.I dont want it to be like what Aeschilus would have written-from those i’ve read so far like Cicero. It will be about tyranny ,diversity ,democracy with hints to the Aescilian of course. *κτῆμά τε ἐς αἰεὶ μᾶλλον ἢ ἀγώνισμα ἐς τὸ παραχρῆμα ἀκούειν ξύγκειται (Thucidides)(eternal gift to humanity)

:grimacing:Translations of modern poetry to ancient Greek are off the table-its like shaping a rectangle to a rose.

Currently im studying Prometheus Bound.
Im glad to learn here and everywhere
