I just got a clown loach and I’m trying to think of a name. My other fish’s names are Gillyweed (angelfish), Netruremus (black molly), and Brutus (betta in seperate tank). I like Latin, Greek, and Ancient Egyptian names, any ideas?
these are the names I like:
Marcus
Caesar
Julius
Augustus
Cicero
Quintus
Horatius
Flaccus
Mithredates
Hercules
Theomnestus
Patroclus
Achilles
Poseidon
Odysseus
Trimalchio
…anyone like any of these names or have any other ideas?
I don’t know how this is OT in the open board.
I have fishes too but I haven’t given them names. If I would they may end up with names like Bill and Frank. (OR maybe βίλλ and φράνκ)
Seeing that I can’t give you any advise regarding names, why am I replying?
Well, to let you know that you can put your Betta in the same tank with the other fishes.
There only is a problem if there is another male Betta in the tank, (or a female if your tank is very small.)
I have had several Bettas in a community tank and they have co-existed peacefully.
It sure is more pleasant to watch and it will be more pleasant for Brutus as well.
Ps. your new fish being a CLOWN loach, maybe you could name him/her Jester.
My $0.02 Can. worth.
Well I’m a little bit hesitant about putting Brutus in with Gil and the others. I could put Brutus in a bag and see how he reacts to the others. Even though Gil is the mellowest angelfish I’ve ever seen, Brutus has a big ego (what betta doesn’t?) and he plays soccer with George, his snail tank-mate. So I’d be more worried about Gil than Brutus.
Jester is cute…can anyone give me the Latin or Greek version?
Hehe, well since he is such a special fish, and a male, he must have a praenomen, nomen, and cognomen. He’s kind of friendly and good-natured, which one (Mithredates or Theomnestus) would fit him best? I also like Trimalchio because he was good at entertaining his guests at dinners.
----Scurra---- (help me fill in the blank)
PS-I put Brutus in with Gil and the others, Gil was chasing after him and changing colors (doesn’t he know black is slimming so it makes him look smaller?). Poor Brutus, if things get out of hand I will separate them again.
His nomen MUST be Aurelius, of course ! His praenomen could have been Quintus if it had been “the Fifth” fish. Now, why not Marcus, if you like it. Then he would be named
Marcus Aurelius Scurra Pulcher (two cognomina are possible; on the other hand, Marcus Aurelius was a beloved emperor)
