ille qui secundas [sc. partes] agit/fert.
vel voce passiva:
cui secundae tribuuntur/dantur, &c.
vel similiter:
ille qui sucundum obtinet locum.
uel sine circumlocutionibus supra (sed subAnglice!):
secundus ab optimo
cf. Hor.S.2.3.193 Aiax, heros ab Achille secundus.
Plin.NH.5.72 Machaerus, secunda quondam arx Iudaeae ab Hierosolymis.
Instead of ab+abl, occasionally a dative can be used, cf. Sen.Ep.92.7 excedat ex hoc animalium numero pulcherrimo ac dis secundo.
~D
My support to Whiteoctave, as that was what I was going to say.
Really? I genuinely admire your tendency of not bearing any grudges, since he did kind of call you a twat.
