Hor.,Ep., 1, 2, line 18. Scanning calls

Here are a couple of words I was unsure about, and the calls I made. Please evaluate this.

prōposuit: “ui” here is not a dipthong. This word has four syllables, right?

nōbīs: “o” and “i” are long by nature as marked?

And here is my scan of the line.

ūtile/ prōposu/it nō/bīs ex/emplar U/lixen,

  • u u/ - u u/- - / - -/ - u u/ - u

Right on both points.

Thanks Hylander.

Excelsior!

One small point: the final syllable is always treated as long, whether it would otherwise be long or not. But the /e/of Ulixen is long.

Final syllable of Ulixen: got it. Thanks Hylander.
