I’m writing a song about clerical hypocrisy. My hope is to have it in three languages - English, Hebrew, and Latin.
I speak Hebrew, so that’s no problem; but I’m clueless when it comes to Latin
I’ve mucked around a bit with Google Translate and figure I’m asking for trouble if I take Google Translate’s word for pretty much anything. That’s why I’ve joined this forum, in the hope someone with knowledge can help me make a few lines sound OK in Latin.
Basically, I want a version of this Hebrew in Latin -
Ve ani zocheret mi atem,
Anshey kedusha,
Shomrei emuna,
Yalla, tagidu li.
It translates into English as -
And I remember who you (plural) are,
Men of holiness,
Come on, tell (you, plural) me.
Now… I know I’m being unreasonable, but my hope is to get the Latin translation to rhyme with that Hebrew.
What Google Translate and I have come up with is -
Memores et ego,
Custodes per fidem,
venit, dic mihi
I know this is in the singular and possibly in the third person; but I don’t mind that as long as it makes sense, because it rhymes.
