Hello, my name’s Alexander and I’m from rural Arkansas. I found this site while searching for Latin and Greek language learning textbooks online. Some friends and I have decided to start a group for men, young men in our generation specifically, but open to men of all ages, and one of the things we want to do in this group is study the writings of the Greek and Roman philosophers. We also have an interest in the Greek epics, and have decided to call ourselves the Argonauts in honor of the crew of the Argo. I’m currently reading the Argonautica, and several other Greek and Latin works, in an English translation, but I feel like there’s much I’m missing by not reading the originals. And so, here I am. There appears to be plenty of resources available here, and I look forward to perusing all of them when I get the opportunity. Until then, any suggestions on where exactly is the best place to start with either Greek or Latin would be greatly appreciated. I’d also like to just hear about you all, as I really do enjoy making new friends with similar interests (in this case, language learning and ancient cultures).
I look forward to hearing from you all.
