Hansen and Quinn "Greek an intensive course" answe

Does anyone know if there is some sort of an answer key to the Hansen and Quinn book? Or at least a partial answer key? There are a lot of good exercises in this book but without a key I don’t know if im correct in my answers.

thanks,
Dimitri

I don’t know of a key – I’ve never seen one – but you could appeal to Professor Hansen himself with an autodidact’s plea. Perhaps he would take pity on a student without recourse to a classroom.

His e-mail address is hhansen@pipeline.com

Thanks very much! I will send the email to him and see how he replies!

thanks,
Dimitri

Dimitri,

Did you ever hear from Prof. Hansen?

Cordially,

Paul

Paul,

Professor Hansen replied back to me and told me that unfortunately there was no answer key published to his book! It was quite unfortunate to hear that.

thanks,
Dimitri

Hi Dimitri and Paul,

The reason for there being no answer key may be that it was produced as a book to use during the summer CUNY intensive Greek classes. I don’t know if it was ever intended for an autodidact.

Too bad though because it looks like a solid book for Greek study.

Maybe someday Textkit users might build a key themselves in the same was one was built for the D’Ooge Latin book.

I know this was posted a long time ago, so you’re probably all dead now!

I mailed HH today and got the same reply, so I mailed back explaining how good this is for the independendent learner and he got back to me to say he’ll discuss this with the faculty of the Greek Institute this summer. It’ll be too late for me, unfortunately, but all hope is not lost.

In the meanwhile go to this URL:

http://leitourgeia.wordpress.com/greek-resources/

This chap has kindly prepared and revised a key for units 1 - 3 and number 4 is on the way, hopefully within about 3 weeks.

I would recommend that you let HH know if you want a key prepared. I sometimes wonder if he realises how good this book would be for self-teaching.

Hope this helps.

Just found some more stuff here:

http://www.voxopop.com/user/77e0d3b8-8efb-4608-9e28-27e6826da134

These are audio versions of the drills and excersises.

Pretty much most of the book. Not as good as a key I admit, but useable.

Hope this helps.

Alex.

thanks alex,
between this and help from this website the average self learner should be able to handle most of the problems in the text. i believe this to be a better alternative anyway. it teaches to us to reach out and work as part of a network for 1, and having all the answers right there waiting for us is probably too much temptation to get lazy and just cheat time to time.

I have found a good answer key on chapter 1-6. ( http://leitourgeia.com/greek-resources/ ) However, I’m still seeking an answer key, for chapter 7, and beyond…anyone developed a way we can check our work in the book?

You can find a full set of translations for the exercises in all twenty chapters at the site below:
