Hello everyone.
This is my first time here and why not say hello? It was just recently that I started my journey with ancient greek, and has been a chalenge that I did not proportionally thought before hahaha, but my capabilities turn out to be much much more higher than what I seemed to me. Its harder than it seems, but we’re stronger than we think. All-in-all, everything was fine, but is really hard to get to those texts alone and have nobody to talk about in a emotional way, without friends to share, to talk about minor details that I saw, dubious passages that I didn’t understanded fully, or just to appreciate the thing together. I’m only listening to my own voice rephrasing over and over the same vox graeca pronunciation that I kind of manage to perform functionally, which is a little strange, if not extravagant of my part, as the object of those efforts is to learn a whole languge. Alone! What the hell! Tell me about you! I’m really curious, seriously.
For spicing up the topic, from what I briefly saw on the internet, there’s a huge demographic lean towards biblical greek, but I haven’t see much of homeric, doric, to say, pre-classical greek authors. What are your thoughts on that? I listened to some Pindar translations and overviews of his poetry and was just breathtaking. I can’t think of someone who knows greek who doesn’t get stunned enough by such a beauty to the point of not memorizing some verses It’s incredible, it has that sharp and firm sense of nobility that we find in the greatests poets.
