greetings

Hello, very nice to find this forum online. I used to study Greek and Latin at university some 20 years ago, but eventually decided to quit academics and have since by and large lost touch with both languages. I am now trying to recapture my Greek by reading Herodotos. I use a bilingual version, where I focus on the original Greek and use the translation for support. The process is slow in the beginning, but day by day one’s proficency is becoming stronger and one becomes less and less dependent on the translation. (As an example, today I reached section 98 of the first chapter, having spent perhaps about 1-2 hours per day over the last 30 days or so.) I am also doing a sort of linguistic/semantic research project where I need to work on material from Greek and Latin texts. I will probably be asking a few questions relating to this in the forum, as I’m having some difficulties getting hold of the texts/formats that I need for my corpuses/corpora. (I’ve created a small application that I can use to organize, search and manage texts and words/phrases on my laptop, but it will only work with texts in txt or similar formats.)

Thank you,
Thomas
