Hello everyone!
I’ve been reading various posts here on TextKit for a while now, but now I’d also like to contribute to some discussions (and maybe ask some questions of my own once in a while.
)
I’ve been studying NT Koine Greek for a couple of years now, and absolutely love it! I’ve gotten to the point now where I can pick up any chapter out of the Gospels and sightread them with very little difficulties in comprehension. (The epistles are coming a little slower, but I’m making progress). Much of this is due to the fact that I found a good teacher who teaches Greek the way every language should be taught (i.e. the communicative method). Thanks to that fact, I actually enjoy reading Greek out loud, and have recently been recording some Koine passages from Philippians as a class project.
I’m also looking around for Koine texts outside of the New Testament so that I can grow beyond the limited corpus that NT Greek represents. So far I’ve started reading a chapter of the LXX every day (and enjoying it very much), but I’m keeping my eye out for other easier texts to read. If anyone has suggestions for further reading materials, I will gladly entertain them!
I’ve been eyeing the Open Greek And Latin project, and considering printing off some of those materials to read, as I much prefer real ink and paper to pixels when it comes to reading (especially ancient texts). Much of the current “Reader’s” Greek printed material is rather pricey, and since I have a bit of experience with printing/typesetting, I think it would be a fun little side-project to create some print Greek resources!
Blessings!
