Greetings everyone,
I am new to Latin and very excited to be here. I was interested in classic literature (in the sense of translated texts) during my college years, though it never occurred to me that I could best enjoy them in their original forms. Until the last days of 2020, I read a passionate review of Wheelock’s Latin, which gave me the initiative.
So, now I am starting with Wheelock’s Latin, making slow progress of the text. I am also thankful for the study resources posted here at textkit, they are very useful and nicely done. Thank you guys.
Welcome to Textkit!
About a few years ago I started my Latin journey with Wheelock as my guide and I am very satisfied with what it had to offer. Each chapter tries to give you something new, without overloading you. However, I do think that the further you get the steeper it gets!
To that end, my biggest recommendation is to make sure you are very comfortable with each chapter before moving to the next one.
My biggest successes have come from making flash cards for grammar, and working on the Sententiae Antiquae. The textbook has “made-up” sentences, but I prefer working on the Sententiae Antiquae because you can actually look up the quotes to check your work.
Good luck and welcome!
