I have just got in hand Greek to GSCE Part 2 Second Edition. After working through the first two chapters (in the book chapters 7 and 8, presumably continued from Part 1), I like it a lot. On-line user reviews of the newer Part 2 revised edition seem not so good. But there is a just plain Part 2 on eBay, 2007 ed. listed at 368 pages. My Part 2, 2d ed., is just 246 pages, including a chapter 11, chapter 12 practice passages, then 23 pages of grammar and another 23 pages of vocab. Question: does anyone know what is in those extra 122 pages of the the first edition?
I started with J. Gresham Machen’s New Testament Greek for Beginners and I think that is far the best for beginners. I find Taylor’s Greek to GCSE a worthy successor in that he seems to understand very well indeed how to present new material simply, clearly, and in bite-size - i.e., digestible - chunks with minimal to zero ego involved. I’ve included the JACT readers and the Athenaze books and have started Anabasis and Iliad. I also have Mounce, but I do not like it and do not use it.
