Greek principal parts spreadsheet

Hi everyone,

I had been looking for a while to see if there was any one place where the principal parts of the most common verbs in Greek were all put together in one easy place for learners to consult, and try though I might I just couldn’t find one. I saw a lot of other people here and other places online looking for one too. So, since I figured this might be a useful thing for Greek learners to have, I decided to make my own, and I thought I would share it with you all to see what you think. So, I found every list of ‘most common words in Attic Greek’ that I could find online, extracted all the verbs out of them, scoured the internet for the principal parts of each and every one of them, and put them all together into this spreadsheet for you all to enjoy. It ended up being a list of 410 verbs, which should account for about 80-85% of all verbs in Attic literature.

Some quick comments:

• I tried to get the Attic forms for things when possible, but I’m sure some Koine has made it in there too.
• A lot of the verbs have a few empty spaces in their prinicipal parts. These are cases where that form either doesn’t exist, isn’t attested, or I just couldn’t find it and didn’t want to make one up or guess.
• I’m not a lexicographer I’m just a guy learning Greek, so I’m sure there are mistakes in this. If you find any, let me know and I’ll update the sheet.

Anyway, without further ado, the spreadsheet is available here, and I also made an Anki deck while I was at it, which is available here.

That’s very interesting and must have been a lot of work. Can this somehow be copied to a regular spreadsheet? It could then be sorted on any column, which would be very useful.

Hi, yes it did take a while, haha. If you download the file from Dropbox (see the button in the top left) it will download the .xlsx file, and you can edit it and play with the data however you want.
