Mēnsis Iūlius nōn ā patre tuō nōmen habet - nōn tantus vir est ille! - sed ā Iūliō Caesare.

• that man is not so great/important -
  Seems a bit strange to say to one’s child.

Aemilia puerum dormīre velle putat.
Aemilia would like to think the boy is asleep/sleeps.

Not sure about my translations, but don’t know where I may have gone wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

The subject is not vir ille “that man” but ille alone (as suggested by the word order).

The main verb is not velle (“would like”) but putat: “Aemilia thinks…”.
