FABULAE SYRAE

hi textkit
i recently finished llpsi , familia romana. i having trouble with fabulae syrae. would there be an easier text to prepare for roma aeterna. something with the same format as familia romana (with grammar and vocabularly exercises) would be ideal.finally does any one know of any latin texts either by or about carmelite authors. fr reginald foster OCD who passed away just a few years is one recent example.
thanks for your help and happy new year.

Hello,
I won’t exactly answer your question, but if you have troubles with Fābulae Syrae, it must be because you don’t master enough what’s in FR. I can suggest you to go back earlier in FR and start from there. Also did you do the supplementary book “Exercitia Latīna”? Know also that there is another supplementary book of exercices, “nova exercitia Latīna” which may help you dig deeper into your understanding of the grammar.

Also Epitomē Historiae Sacrae, is recommended to people who finished FR, and was adapted in the LLPSI format. The language isn’t too difficult, sometimes easier than in FS, and has exercises. You may want to give it a try.

Wow! What a fantastic resource! Many thanks for posting.

I have a copy of Via Latina by Maria Luisa Aguilar and Jorge Tarrega, It is around Familia Romana standard - the first half anyway. It has exercises, but there is no answer book available. Library?

I would suggest that you think about this advice more closely. The earlier chapters are quite straightforward but later on it gets more tricky.

Perhaps posting passages here which cause you difficulties might help you see what you haven’t mastered in FR. it would no doubt be very helpful to the many who read these posts but don’t comment.
